Regular Yearly Activities

bulletChristmas Party
bulletThe Guild Christmas Party is held in December at a local restaurant.  A gift exchange is held and we have a Christmas block raffle.
bulletOur gift exchange is a lot of fun.  Each person brings a wrapped gift and puts it under the Christmas tree.  Everyone is given a number and when that number is announced, she has the choice of going to the tree and getting a present or stealing one from another member. You never know which present you will end up with until the end.
bulletWe also have a Christmas block raffle.  The Christmas committee gives guild members the guidelines for the Christmas block.  If you want to participate, you make the block and bring it to the party.  You then have a chance to win some of the blocks.
bulletGuild Picnic
bulletThe 3rd Thursday in June is the guild picnic held at McConnells Mills State Park.
bulletMembers bring a covered dish to share and the guild provides the meat and refreshments.
bulletA few months before the picnic, the president issues a challenge for a quilt block for the picnic.  If you want to participate, you make the block(s) and bring it (them) to the picnic.  during the picnic you have  a chance to win some of the blocks.
bulletWe also play a few games and have door prizes. It is a fun evening of games, socializing and friendship.
bulletMiscellaneous
bulletThrough out the year other activities arise.  In the past we have gone on various quilt shop trips, had a fabric dying party, and other classes held on a different day than the regular guild meeting.
bulletQuilt Retreat
bulletWe offer a quilt retreat in the fall to our members. It starts on a Friday afternoon and ends on a Sunday.  It's a weekend of fun, door prizes, friendship and lots of sewing time.
bulletQuilt Show
bulletThe quilt show is held every other year. There is a quilt show committee that is made up of guild members, which puts the show together.
bulletWork Nights
bulletThere are two meetings per year that we set aside for work nights.
bulletWe work together on any giving or raffle quilts or a project of our own.
bullet"Giving Quilt" is a quilt made for a special purpose.  It can be an ABC quilt, a lap quilt for the elderly in a nursing home, or a raffle quilt for another charity.  In other words our "Giving Quilt Program" is our way to contribute to the community and help others.
